a little bit of personal info........
Hi, my name is Kerrie Redgrave and I established the Sewing and Design Studio in 2009. I have always loved sewing and it has occupied a large part of my life. After teaching 'Learn to Sew' classes in evening college, I also developed a love for teaching sewing. I have a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment ( Meadowbank TAFE) .
I studied at the Dress Design Studio, East Sydney TAFE for 3 years and after graduating went directly into the fashion industry, working for twenty years as a Designer and Patternmaker. My work in the fashion industry allowed me to become involved in every aspect of range development and garment construction. I have always worked in the area of women's fashion and enjoyed specialising in bridal wear for six years.
Working with the idea that your garments should look 'handmade not homemade' I put a lot of emphasis on achieving a professional finish and a great fit. Having a fashion industry background, I like to implement the 'tricks of the trade' which replace many hand sewn finishes that todays sewers seem to dislike.
All students are encouraged to speak or meet with me prior to attending their first class so that I am able to assess your skill level and help you choose your first project.
